Will an Openreach engineer enter my premises to install a new service?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation we wanted to make you aware of some changes to Openreach’s processes to ensure we keep both you and the engineers safe, should you require an engineer to visit your premises. We also have a couple of things to ask you to do to ensure Openreach can provide service as quickly and safely as possible.

Openreach engineers will do all they can to get you up and running without entering your premises. However, there may be instances where we need to enter the premises for a short duration.

In case this is needed please take the following 3 simple steps in advance of the engineering visit.

  1. Please clear a path to the main telephone socket if you have one.
  2. Please wipe down any surfaces around the telephone socket our engineers may come into contact with.
  3. Please open any windows or doors if possible where the Openreach engineer will likely have to work.

What to expect on the day of the visit.

  1. The Openreach engineer will contact you asking a number of screening questions which will allow us to identify if any circumstances have changed.
  2. If an engineer does needs to enter your premises, please be aware that they may put on a mask and/or gloves.
  3. Please keep 2 metres social distancing from the engineer and if possible, move to a different room.
  4. Once the engineer has finished working in your premises, they will wipe down any surface they have touched before leaving.

Please note that the engineer will not be able to carry out any internal extensions or sockets other than the main master socket to your property.

Whatever your communications requirements, Haven Communications can help you with a bespoke solution for your business. Contact us via sales@havencommunications.co.uk

The work Openreach does is critical with our engineers given Key Worker status. Our number one priority is to keep people connected, and we’ve been working closely with our Communications Provider (CP) partners to minimise the impact of the Government’s restrictions on the services we can provide.  Following new Public Health England guidance issued on 11th May we’ll be starting to do work inside customers’ homes and businesses again from Monday 18th May, where necessary. Whilst there is a high Coronavirus alert level in place, there are special measures we all need to take to keep each other safe.    https://www.openreach.com/covid-19-coronavirus
